ICU Registered Nurse (RN)

Join our dynamic Intensive Care Unit (ICU) team, which provides critical care to a diverse population of adult patients facing complex medical challenges.

Unit Overview

The ICU is a 20-bed Medical/Surgical Intensive Care Unit, where healthcare professionals care for patients with a variety of serious conditions, including:

Substance Abuse/Overdose
Severe Psychiatric Conditions
Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA)
Sepsis
Gastrointestinal Bleed
Respiratory Failure
Cardiac Arrest
Renal Failure
Cardiogenic Shock

The facility features 24-hour on-site attending and resident support to ensure comprehensive patient care.

Shift Details

Positions available: 36 or 48 hours per week
Rotating shifts: Day shifts may include 7a-7p, 11a-11p, or 7p-7a rotations
Night shifts do not rotate
Weekend rotation required

Patient Care Responsibilities

The RN will be expected to manage a patient load with the following ratios:

1:1 or 1:2 for high acuity patients in the ICU
1:4 or 1:5 when floating to other Medical/Surgical units

Qualifications

Minimum of 2 years of continuous MICU or Adult ICU experience required
Ability to read telemetry strips is essential
Active RN license in Massachusetts
AHA BLS and ACLS certifications required
Willingness to float to Medical/Surgical units as needed

Charting and Documentation

Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) is necessary. The charting system utilized is EPIC.
