ICU Registered Nurse (RN)

Join a dedicated team in a high-acuity Intensive Care Unit (ICU) setting, caring for a diverse range of surgical patients. This opportunity involves providing critical care to post-operative patients and those with complex medical needs.

Unit Information

• Number of Beds: 16, plus 2 procedural beds
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratios:
  • 1:2 general patients
  • 1:1 for higher acuity patients (e.g., CRRT, immediate post-op heart patients)
  • 1:3 for patients with medical-surgical status
• Common Diagnoses:
  • Cardiovascular surgeries (CABG, AVR, MVR, AAA)
  • Trauma cases (level 2 trauma center)
  • NSTEMI/STEMI
  • Vascular, neurosurgery, general surgery, orthopedic, and ENT surgeries

Job Responsibilities

• Provide care for high-acuity patients, including those on CRRT, IABP, Impella, and ECMO.
• Titrate medications as required for critical care management.
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans.
• Monitor vital signs and maintain patient safety.
• Document patient care and communicate effectively with the healthcare team.
• Flexibility to float between the SICU and MICU as needed.

Qualifications

• Active RN license required.
• Strong experience with high-acuity patient populations.
• Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS.
• Preferred Certification: TNCC.

Work Environment

• Supportive environment with an intensivist available 24/7.
• Respiratory Therapists on-site at all times.
• Registered Nurses monitor their own telemetry patients using GE monitors.
• Collaboration with nursing aides during day shifts; aides are typically not present at night.
• Self-scheduling available for staff; agency staff will be scheduled based on unit needs.

Shift Details

• Shifts: 0700-1930 or 1900-0730.
• Weekend and holiday requirements: Every other weekend and holiday, with increased opportunities if desired.

Orientation and Training

Comprehensive orientation includes a one-day system onboarding and two shifts on the unit, culminating in a skills checklist to ensure preparedness for clinical responsibilities.
