Intensive Care Unit Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Overview

The Registered Staff Nurse (RN) provides comprehensive care to patients and their families, focusing on independent, collaborative, and delegated nursing functions as outlined in the standards and competencies specific to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). This role encompasses the care of individuals across the lifespan, including neonates, infants, children, young adults, adults, and older adults.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform nursing assessments and establish nursing diagnoses.
• Identify patient outcomes and plan, implement, and evaluate care accordingly.
• Develop and adjust the patient care plan while coordinating care among various disciplines.
• Delegate appropriate tasks to other caregivers as necessary.
• Engage in shared accountability and decision-making processes related to nursing practices.
• Participate actively in enhancing practice standards and improving the environment of care.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience is required.
• BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA or ARC) are mandatory.
• Experience with adult and geriatric populations is required.
• Familiarity with Epic electronic health record system is necessary.
• Experience with fresh open heart surgery patients, interpretation of cardiac rhythms, impella, and balloon pumps is preferred.

Other Requirements

• Available to work rotating day and night shifts with a 36-hour guarantee.
• Must be willing to work every weekend.
• Floating to other ICUs and medical-surgical units may be required based on staffing needs.
