ICU Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description:

This role involves collaborating with physicians to formulate a comprehensive care plan aimed at optimizing patient health. You will provide bedside nursing care and implement medical orders while overseeing the functions of Nurse Assistants and other ancillary staff. Your responsibilities include evaluating the effectiveness of care plans.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

• Assume a leadership role by:
• • Integrating evidence-based knowledge into practice.
  • Delegating and coordinating nursing care tasks and assignments.
  • Facilitating and participating in patient conferences.
  • Identifying patients' ongoing needs for education during discharge and transfer, collaborating with relevant personnel.
  • Actively pursuing professional growth through educational opportunities.
  • Providing guidance and mentorship to professional and ancillary staff.
  • Precepting and mentoring new employees and nursing students.
  • Leading the team to ensure appropriate patient placement and task delegation.
• Effectively communicate relevant information in a clear and understandable manner.
• Demonstrate strong organizational skills through effective planning.

Attendance Policy:

An attendance policy is in place to support patient care needs and maintain adequate staff coverage. Attendance strikes will be issued for absences, late arrivals exceeding 20 minutes without prior approval, or unapproved early departures from scheduled shifts. Accumulating three attendance strikes will result in immediate termination from the assignment. Extenuating circumstances will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

Weekend and On-Call Requirements:

Weekend work is required, with a minimum of two shifts expected every other weekend. No on-call duties are necessary for this position.

The ideal candidate should possess:

• 2+ years of ICU experience.
• Experience with open heart procedures.
• Comfort in floating to the Emergency Department and step-down units.
• Current certifications in BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS.
• Additional certifications such as TCAR, TNCC, CCRN, and SCRN are desirable.
• Travel experience is a plus.
• Neurosurgical experience is preferred.
