Job Summary :- Intensive Care Unit

• Float Requirement: Yes, must float to med/surg as needed
   
• Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend required
   
• Local Candidates: Not accepted unless residing more than 75 miles away
   
• Experience Required: Minimum 2 years
   
• Patient Ratio Experience: Must have experience with 1:3 nurse-to-patient ratio
   
• First Time Traveler: Not typically accepted, but may be considered based on profile
   
• Patient Population: Young adults to elderly, including patients on ventilators, titratable drips, and those experiencing substance abuse withdrawal; common diagnoses include cardiac, respiratory, neuro, GI diseases, and post-operative cases
   
• Special Procedures/Unit Details: Care of patients with A-lines, central lines, intubations, chest tubes, and open abdomens
   
• Special Equipment: Proficiency with glidescope and other ICU equipment
   
• Certifications Required: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS
  
  Key Skills:-
   
• Medical, Neuro, and Surgical ICU care
   
• Dysrhythmia interpretation and management
   
• Multisystem organ dysfunction/failure management
   
• 12-lead EKG/ECG acquisition
   
• IV insulin protocols and GI surgery experience
   
• Accessing/managing ports, arterial and central line care
   
• PICC line management, blood product administration
   
• IV initiation and maintenance
   
• Administration of IV paralytics, sedation, emergency meds, and titration of cardiac/vasoactive drips
   
• Stroke management (CVA/Acute Stroke), hypothermia protocol/Arctic Sun
   
• Assist with chest tube procedures
   
• BiPAP/CPAP management, ventilated patient care, fresh tracheostomy care, HFNC
   
• ABG interpretation, pulmonary edema/embolism/respiratory failure management
   
• Suctioning (ETT, NT), ventilator management
   
• Infection prevention, isolation precautions/PPE, phlebotomy
  
  EMR Experience:-  EPIC required
  
  Dress Code:-  Any combination of navy/white scrubs
