ICU Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled ICU Registered Nurse to provide high-quality care in a fast-paced environment. This position involves caring for critically ill patients and performing advanced nursing techniques in an Intensive Care Unit setting.

Shift Details

• Schedule: 3x12 hours
• Shift Time: 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM

Contract Details

• Consideration for contracts longer than 14 weeks is available upon request.
• Call outs may result in immediate contract cancellation.

Time Off Restrictions

• Requests for time off (RTO) of 14 days or less will be auto-approved.
• Every other winter and summer holiday is required with no RTO approved.
• No RTO will be granted on hard-to-fill days such as Easter, Mother's Day, and Father's Day.

Weekend Requirement

Every other weekend is required to ensure adequate staffing and patient care.

Floating Requirements

Travelers may float to Intermediate Care Units (IMC) based on facility needs and may float to similar critical-care areas aligned with their scope and competencies.

Licensure Requirements

A valid Maryland or compact Registered Nurse license is required upon submission.

Patient Ratios

• ICU patient ratio: 1:2
• Travelers floating to IMC may have a ratio of 1:4.
• If an ICU patient is downgraded and awaiting a bed, the ICU ratio may be 1:3.

Experience Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of Critical Care experience is required.
• Experience in Level II Trauma is required; Level I Trauma experience is preferred.
• Neuro ICU and Surgical ICU experience are mandatory.
• Experience in dysrhythmia interpretation and management is essential.
• Experience managing multisystem organ dysfunction/failure is required.
• Knowledge of cardiac and vasoactive drip titration is required.

Certifications

• ACLS, BLS, and NIH certifications are required.
• ATCAR or equivalent trauma education is mandatory.
• Candidates may complete an approved "Insult to Result" trauma course to meet trauma education requirements.
• Prophecy Relias Advanced EKG assessment is required; a passing score must be submitted for contract eligibility.

Unit Information

This position is located in a 29-bed non-aggregated ICU with an average daily census of approximately 26 patients. The unit specializes in the care of Medical, Surgical, Coronary Care, Neuro, and Trauma patients.

Special Equipment Experience

• Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP)
• Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT)
• External Ventricular Drainage (EVD)
• Arctic Sun/Cooling Blanket management

Charting System

The charting system used is Cerner.

Scrub Color

Scrubs must be navy blue.
