Job Summary:
The ICU (Intensive Care Unit) registered nurse position is located in a trauma level 1 facility in Omaha, Nebraska. The role involves providing critical care to adult and pediatric patients with various trauma injuries, stroke, sepsis, and other life-threatening conditions. This fast-paced unit demands strong clinical skills and the ability to manage critically ill patients efficiently.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Nights, 12-hour shifts, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Valid nursing license, ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), BLS (Basic Life Support), NIHSS (National Institute of Health Stroke Scale) certifications; minimum of 2 years of recent ICU experience, valid drivers license, and ability to comply with facility policies including fingernail and dress code policies.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with ventilators, telemetry monitoring, titrating drips such as vasopressors and sedatives, and previous trauma ICU experience.
- Float: Float rotation may be required to inpatient units excluding Maternity/NICU.
- Additional Information: Candidates must successfully pass a pass/fail skills exam during orientation with a minimum score of 90%. The unit is high acuity, with a patient-to-nurse ratio of 1:1-2 in ICU and 1:4 in PCU. Nurses will troubleshoot ventilators and interpret telemetry strips using Draeger equipment. Self-scheduling is allowed with shifts from 6:30 AM to 6:30 PM and overnight shifts; four weekend shifts are required every six weeks. RTO requests must be made upfront and must specify 7 or fewer days per 13-week contract.
