Job Summary:
The ICU (Intensive Care Unit) registered nurse position is located in Oakland, Maryland. This role involves providing specialized critical care to patients with complex medical conditions. The unit features a 4-bed ICU with a patient-nurse ratio of 1 to 2. The position requires delivering high-quality bedside care, adhering to strict clinical protocols, and working within a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Job Details:
- Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, with additional shifts possibly available. The schedule includes weekends every other week and rotating holidays.
- Required Qualifications: Valid and unexpired license to practice as a registered nurse; current certifications including BLS (Basic Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support), and NIHSS (National Institute of Health Stroke Scale); minimum of 2 years of ICU experience required; experience with titratable and set rate drips such as propofol, cardizem, insulin, precedex, and levo; ability to monitor and interpret telemetries; proficiency in electronic medical records, specifically EPIC.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with ICU patient management, advanced certifications, and familiarity with monitoring equipment such as ventilators, Cpap, and BiPap.
- Additional Information: The position involves unit-specific orientation including a tour, introductions, and training on policies and procedures over 3-5 days. The facility is equipped with RT (Respiratory Therapy) support 24/7, and the unit maintains a flexible dress code. Nurses may float to medical-surgical units as needed based on census, and the orientation plan will be coordinated with the manager.
