TotalMed RN is seeking a travel nurse RN ICU - Intensive Care Unit for a travel nursing job in Oak Lawn, Illinois.
UNIT: CRIT CARE STIC
Certs Required: BLS, ACLS; NIHSS and TNCC preferred
Experience Required: 2 years. Must be a current ICU RN. Vent/trach management, invasive line management (A-lines, ICP, CVP, various central lines), IV/phlebotomy skills, cardiac rhythm interpretation. Medication titration: Propofol, versed, fentanyl, dilaudid, levophed, heparin, paralytics, insulin, etc.
Patient Types:
Multi system trauma, GSW, stabbings, spinal trauma patients, general surgery (bowel resections, etc.), massive transfusion, kidney transplants, vascular surgeries
o Organ donations (transplant patients in ASHU), End of Life (Gifts of Hope)
o Many surgeries transfer to stepdown with 24h-48h
o Any admit must be cleared through the Trauma Team
o This is a locked unit
Weekend Rotation
Every other: Night shift weekend is Friday and Saturday nights
Holiday Requirements
2 holiday nights - either Christmas Eve night or Christmas Day night or New Years Eve night or New Years Day night
Floating Requirements
MICU (24 beds), Neuro ICU (18 beds), CVTU (18 beds), Adult Surgical Heart Unit, all stepdown/tele units, no MedSurg floating.
Support on the Unit:
Receptionist/HUC: 7a-7p
Charge nurse: Free floating, will also help with breaks
Phlebotomy - Does not come to ICU; RN will draw blood
IV/VAT Team - Available for difficult sticks
Educator (M-F)
RT: 24/7 in all ICUs
Hospitalist: NP and Residents 24/7
Intensivist: On call 24/7 for consults
Trauma Surgeon/Team on call 24/7
OT, PT, ST during the day M-F
Technology/Equipment:
EMR: EPIC – experience required
IV pumps: Alaris
Medication dispensing: Pyxis
Orientation: (facility and unit)
One day of orientation
1st Day: Meet with NM (badge, logins, online modules)
Remainder of the shift with a preceptor
2nd Day: Independently with a resource partner
Scheduling:
Weekend rotation: Every other
Day shift weekend is Saturday and Sunday
Night shift weekend is Friday and Saturday
On call? No
Holiday Expectations: 50% of holidays in a contract
Approval of time off? To go through manager

Days: 0700-1930
Nights: 1900-0730
Schedule cycle: Self scheduling with weekend guidelines
