Registered Nurse Job Requirements

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice or compact state eligibility
  • At least 1 year of RN experience required
  • Critical care, stepdown, med/surg, or emergency department experience preferred
  • BLS and ACLS required or obtained within required timeframe
  • Dysrhythmia exam required
  • Travel nursing experience preferred
  • Strong clinical judgment, communication, and teamwork skills
  • Ability to remain calm and effective in high-acuity, rapidly changing situations

ICU Registered Nurse Responsibilities

  • Provide direct, high-quality care to critically ill adult and geriatric patients
  • Complete comprehensive assessments, develop care plans, and evaluate patient outcomes
  • Monitor hemodynamics and manage patients requiring advanced critical care support
  • Care for patients using ventilators, CRRT, IABP, Impella, ECMO, and other life-support technologies
  • Assist with central line care, chest tubes, transvenous or temporary pacing, and advanced respiratory modalities
  • Administer medications safely, including critical care drips and conscious sedation support when needed
  • Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate patient care
  • Educate patients and families while serving as a dependable resource during complex care situations
  • Support quality improvement, patient safety, and evidence-based nursing practices
