ICU Registered Nurse Job Requirements

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure eligible for practice in Virginia
  • At least 1 year of professional nursing experience
  • Previous ICU, surgical ICU, PACU, post-anesthesia, or other critical care nursing experience strongly preferred
  • Ability to provide safe, effective care for post-surgical, trauma, and stroke patients
  • Strong patient assessment, clinical judgment, communication, and teamwork skills

Critical Care Nurse Responsibilities

  • Deliver comprehensive nursing care to critically ill post-surgical, trauma, and stroke patients
  • Perform ongoing patient assessments, recognize changes in condition, and initiate appropriate interventions
  • Monitor patients during short-stay intensive care and support safe transitions to the next level of care
  • Administer medications and treatments in accordance with established standards and protocols
  • Collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary care team to develop and implement individualized care plans
  • Accurately document assessments, interventions, and patient responses
  • Promote patient safety, comfort, and quality outcomes throughout the hospitalization
