Travel RN Job Details
- Location: Lima, Ohio
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,020–$2,130
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks
- Start Date: October 19, 2026
- Nursing Schedule: 3 night shifts per week, 12 hours per shift
- Weekly Hours: 36 hours, with a 36- or 48-hour guarantee available
- Weekend/Holiday Schedule: Every other weekend and every other holiday
- ICU Unit: 24-bed high-acuity Intensive Care Unit with typical nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:2–3
- Patient Population: Adult and geriatric patients, including neuro, cardiac, critical care, and postsurgical cases
- Scrubs: Navy blue
ICU Travel Nurse Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse license in the state of practice or a valid compact license
- At least 2 years of recent ICU nursing experience required
- Demonstrated ability to care for critically ill patients with complex and multisystem conditions
- Current BLS certification required before providing direct patient care
- ACLS certification required within the applicable onboarding timeframe
- Successful completion of a dysrhythmia examination required
- Ability to work 12-hour night shifts, alternating weekends, and alternating holidays
- Willingness to float to other levels of care when needed
- Strong critical care nursing judgment, communication, teamwork, and patient advocacy skills
- CCRN, PCCN, TNCC, PALS, TCRN, NIH Stroke Certification, or RN-BC credentials are valued
- Previous experience with electronic health records, preferably Epic, is preferred
ICU Registered Nurse Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive initial and ongoing assessments of critically ill patients.
- Develop, implement, prioritize, and evaluate individualized plans of care using the nursing process.
- Manage patients with multisystem organ failure, trauma, acute neurological conditions, cardiac conditions, and postsurgical complications.
- Administer medications and treatments safely in accordance with nursing standards, policies, and scope of practice.
- Provide care involving ventilators, CPAP/BiPAP, vasopressors, hemodynamic monitoring, and other life-support technologies.
- Monitor and care for patients with Swan-Ganz catheters and assist with advanced procedures such as intra-aortic balloon pump, Impella, chest tube, transvenous pacing, and temporary pacing placement.
- Recognize subtle changes in patient condition and respond promptly with evidence-based interventions.
- Coordinate care with intensivists, hospitalists, residents, rapid response personnel, therapists, and other members of the interdisciplinary team.
- Educate patients and families, support coping and decision-making, and advocate for patient preferences and safety.
- Document assessments, interventions, outcomes, and communication accurately in the electronic health record.
- Participate in quality improvement, patient safety, infection prevention, and professional development activities.
ICU Work Environment
- High-acuity ICU environment with access to intensivist, hospitalist, rapid response, resource RN, and house supervisor support.
- Patient assignments and staffing ratios may vary based on census and operational needs.
- Position involves extended periods of standing and walking, patient repositioning, lifting, pushing, pulling, and exposure to clinical hazards requiring appropriate precautions and personal protective equipment.
- Successful candidates remain calm and adaptable during emergencies and changing patient conditions.
