Travel Nursing Job Details

  • Shift: 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 p.m.–7:30 a.m.
  • Schedule: 36 hours per week, typically three 12-hour shifts
  • Weekend Requirement: Six weekend shifts per six-week schedule
  • Floating: May float between the Neurosciences ICU and Surgical ICU, as well as areas of equal or lesser acuity
  • Charting System: EPIC electronic health record
  • Dress Code: Solid black or white nursing uniforms

ICU Registered Nurse Job Requirements

  • Active Registered Nurse license applicable to North Carolina practice
  • At least 1 year of recent ICU nursing experience; experience in a tertiary care facility is required
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications
  • Current NIHSS certification
  • Demonstrated ability to care for high-acuity neurological and critically ill patients
  • Experience with EPIC electronic health records preferred
  • Previous travel nursing experience preferred
  • Ability to meet applicable travel nursing and geographic eligibility requirements

Neurosciences ICU Registered Nurse Responsibilities

  • Deliver comprehensive critical care nursing to patients in a high-acuity Neurosciences ICU
  • Perform ongoing neurological assessments, including NIHSS evaluations
  • Manage patients with ventriculostomies, intracranial pressure monitoring, lumbar drains, and other cranial drains
  • Monitor and manage arterial lines, central lines, mechanical ventilation, and complex hemodynamic conditions
  • Administer and titrate ICU medications and intravenous drips, including analgesics, sedatives, and vasopressors
  • Implement temperature management protocols for hypo- and hyperthermia
  • Provide care for patients receiving Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT)
  • Collaborate with providers and the multidisciplinary care team to support safe, evidence-based patient outcomes
  • Float to the Surgical ICU or comparable units as needed while maintaining high standards of patient care
  • Accurately document assessments, interventions, and patient responses in EPIC
