TotalMed RN is seeking a travel nurse RN ICU - Intensive Care Unit for a travel nursing job in Billings, Montana.

ICU RN — Assignment Details

Unit: 28-bed MICU and 10-bed SICU

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of ICU experience; first-time travelers accepted
  • BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS; CCRN preferred
  • Cerner experience highly preferred
  • Strong neuro assessments, cardiac rhythm interpretation, ventilator management, arterial lines, chest tubes, trach care, ABG interpretation, post-arrest care, and critical drip initiation/titration
  • Prior CRRT, ECMO, and ultrasound-guided IV experience is not required; onsite competency validation applies

Schedule and patient care

  • Patients: Medical, surgical, neuro, cardiovascular, and Level I trauma patients, including sepsis, organ failure, stroke, brain injuries, cardiac arrest, and cardiogenic shock
  • Ratios: Typically 1:2; occasionally 1:3 depending on acuity, overflow, and boarders. An atypical team model may pair one ICU RN and one non-ICU RN with 3–5 patients.
  • Floating: Routinely between MICU/SICU; may also float to CVU, intermediate care, and MedSurg, with ratios of 1:3–4
  • Weekends: Up to 4 weekends per 8-week schedule
  • On-call: None
  • Holidays: May be included in the holiday rotation

Other details

  • Support: CNA, charge nurse, telemetry clerk, 24/7 RT, hospitalist and intensivist coverage; daytime pharmacy and therapy support
  • Equipment: Alaris, Omnicell, Philips monitors, CRRT, Impella, and IABP; competency checkoff required before managing higher-acuity equipment
  • Scrubs: Any solid color; no graphics, logos, designs, denim, or camouflage
