Travel ICU Nursing Job Details

  • Shift: Night shift, 6:45 p.m. to 7:15 a.m.

ICU Registered Nurse Job Requirements

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Massachusetts, in hand prior to submission
  • At least 2 years of recent ICU or critical care nursing experience
  • Previous travel nursing experience required
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications
  • CCRN certification preferred
  • Demonstrated experience with telemetry monitoring and cardiac dysrhythmia recognition
  • Proficiency with continuous IV sedation, procedural sedation monitoring, and pulmonary artery line or Swan-Ganz monitoring
  • Ability to care for mechanically ventilated patients and manage arterial lines, chest tubes, vasopressors, and other critical care therapies
  • COVID-19 vaccination required; flu vaccination required, with medical exemptions considered

ICU Registered Nurse Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive bedside nursing care to critically ill adult patients in a 14-bed intensive care unit
  • Care for patients with alcohol withdrawal, acute respiratory distress, COPD, gastrointestinal bleeding, overdose, COVID-related complications, and other complex diagnoses
  • Support patients recovering from procedures and surgeries, including carotid procedures and video-assisted thoracic surgery
  • Interpret and manage cardiac dysrhythmias while maintaining continuous telemetry monitoring
  • Administer and monitor continuous IV sedatives, procedural sedation, vasopressors, and other high-alert medications
  • Monitor patients receiving mechanical ventilation and those with arterial lines, chest tubes, and pulmonary artery or Swan-Ganz catheters
  • Participate in the ICU code team and rapid response team
  • Collaborate with intensivists, nighttime nurse practitioners, respiratory services, pharmacy, IV teams, radiology, rehabilitation, social services, and other interdisciplinary partners
  • Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately while promoting safe, evidence-based critical care nursing
