Job Summary
Intensive Care Unit Medical (ICU MEDICAL) Nurse in an acute care facility. This position involves providing critical patient care in a 20-bed ICU that manages complex cases including sepsis, ARDS, pneumonia, AKI, alcohol withdrawal, and overdose, with a focus on ventilated patients and titration of vasoactive and cardioactive drips. The role requires interpretation of EKG strips, use of arterial and central lines, and collaboration with intensivists and telemetry staff to deliver high-quality care.
Job Details
- Position Description: ICU Medical Nurse responsible for managing critically ill patients, including ventilated patients, with experience in interpreting EKG strips, arterial and central line care, and titrating vasoactive and cardioactive drips.
- Certifications: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA).
- Education & Experience: Active Illinois license or confirmation of initiated application process, 1 year of nursing experience preferred.
- Location Requirements: Must hold an active Illinois nursing license or have initiated license application.
- Schedule: Night shifts, 12 hours each, minimum of 36 hours weekly.
- Additional Information: The position involves collaborating with hospitalists and intensivists 24/7, reading telemetry strips monitored via Phillips monitors, managing ventilator equipment, participating in unit orientation, and floating to stepdown or general medical units if required. The orientation includes designated hours for Epic EMR training, shadowing, and preceptor support.
- Submission Requirements: Last four digits of SSN, active IL license or process confirmation, understanding of a drug-free campus policy, and negative drug screen for all panels.
