Travel Registered Nurse (RN) – Cardiac Surgical ICU (CSICU)
Facility: DCH
Location: Alabama

Shift: Nights, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
Contract Duration: 13 weeks
Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours/week
Available Schedules: 36 or 48 hours per week

Job Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required.
- Candidates with 18 months of experience may be considered if they have at least 1 year of specialty experience and meet the facility's licensing requirements.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in the specialty required.
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required.
- Active Alabama RN license or Compact RN license required.
- Temporary licenses are not accepted.
- Current AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, and NIHSS or Red Cross equivalents required.
- AHA PALS preferred if working in a pediatric unit.
- Previous experience in cardiac surgical critical care is strongly preferred.
Schedule & Weekend Requirements
- Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM.
- 36 or 48 hours per week, depending on the selected schedule.
- Every other weekend required.
- Holiday coverage required as needed.
- Candidates must be willing to float to other units and hospitals.
Unit Details
Cardiac Surgical Intensive Care Unit (CSICU)
- Unit Size: 4 beds
- Patient Population: Adults and geriatrics
- Specialty: Cardiac, thoracic, vascular, and other surgical critical care
- Primary Focus: Postoperative recovery and complex invasive hemodynamic monitoring
Cardiac Stepdown Unit (CSU)
- Unit Size: 8 beds
- Specialty: Recovery and care following cardiac, thoracic, and vascular surgery
Both units are supported by a cardiovascular educator and focus on safe, patient-centered care.

- Cardiac surgical ICU nursing
- Postoperative cardiac surgery recovery
- Thoracic and vascular surgical patient care
- Invasive hemodynamic monitoring
- Critical care assessment and management
- Recognition of patient deterioration
- Complex surgical patient monitoring
- Safe patient-centered nursing care
