Job Summary
An Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Nurse is needed in a medical-surgical ICU setting. This role involves providing direct patient care to critically ill adult patients with diverse diagnoses, including trauma, neuro, cardiovascular, and respiratory conditions. The position is located in the ICU of a busy healthcare facility, requiring recent ICU experience with neuro or cardiovascular specialization.
Job Details
- Position: ICU Nurse Specialty: Intensive Care Unit Location: In a healthcare facility setting
- Shift: Nights, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: Current BLS, ACLS, NIHSS certifications; three years of recent ICU experience including neuro or cardiovascular; BSN not required but preferred; valid licensure to practice as an RN in the applicable state
- Preferred Qualifications: Prior ICU experience at a similar-sized hospital; experience with trauma, neuro, or cardio-pulmonary cases; ability to interpret telemetry strips independently
- Responsibilities: Provide advanced critical care management, titrate medications and drips, interpret telemetry, and collaborate with hospitalist or intensivist teams 24/7. The candidate must complete a dysrhythmia exam prior to acceptance and pass a simulated lab assessment during orientation.
- Schedule: Nights shift with a combination of weekends (up to 3 per 4 weeks), and possibly one holiday off during the assignment. Self-scheduling is permitted, with shift balancing as needed.
- Additional Information: Will be expected to float between adult ICUs (medical, cardiac, neuro). Will validate skills in trauma, neuro, and specialty devices as needed. Candidates should be comfortable with first-time travel and have at least three years of clinical ICU experience, including two within ICU settings.
- Submission Requirements: Candidates must submit a valid license to practice as an RN.
