Join a leading acute-care hospital in Louisville, KY, as a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). This contract position offers an opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment with a focus on critical care. We are seeking candidates who are passionate about providing high-quality patient care and have the experience necessary to thrive in an ICU setting.

Unit Information:

• Beds: 24 (8-16 ICU and 8 stepdown patients daily)
• Patient Ratios: 1:1-3

Minimum Experience Required: 2 years in ICU nursing. First-time travelers are welcome!

Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:

• Intensive care, ventilator support
• Post cardiac procedure (no open thoracic but will see PCI)
• Balloon pumps, Swanz, continuous renal replacement therapy
• Sepsis, ECMO, PEs, post thrombectomy, post stroke (not hemorrhagic)

Required License and Certifications:

• BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, CPI

Skills Required:

• Experience with ventilators, trachs, tube feeds, chest tubes
• Ability to manage titrating drips and DKA

Support Within the Department:

• 1 CNA/PCA per 8-12 patients
• Dedicated RT 24/7
• Midlevel ICU providers always on site
• Charge nurse and receptionist/HUC support
• Phlebotomy and intensivist available 24/7
• Telemetry monitoring/tech

Technology/Equipment:

• EMR: Cerner
• IV Pump: Plum 360
• Med dispensing: Omnicell
• Monitors: Phillips
• Unit specific equipment: CRRT, Artic Sun, Balloon Pump, EKOS, Prenumbra, Pacer

Floating: Yes, could float within scope of practice and below, including to PCU, MedSurg, and Tele.

Orientation: NEO, 1-2 shifts in the unit.

Scheduling:

• Weekend rotation: No more than every other weekend
• On call: No
• Holiday Expectations: Based on unit needs
• Approval of RTO: To go through manager
• Shift times: 0645-1915, 1845-0715
• Schedule cycle: Will consider block scheduling
