Job Summary:
Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Registered Nurse position in Alton, Illinois. This role involves providing expert care to complex medical and surgical patients within a high-acuity unit. The selected candidate will deliver advanced critical care in a fast-paced environment, supporting adult and geriatric patient populations with a focus on stroke, cardiac, overdose, and multi-system organ failure cases.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Night shifts, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Valid Illinois license in hand at time of submittal; minimum of 2 years of experience in ICU or a similar high-acuity setting; certifications including ACLS and BLS are required; proficiency with ventilator management, arterial line care, IV start, telemetry, and critical care procedures.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with complex medical and surgical patients, familiarity with Cerner charting system, and prior trauma or community hospital experience.
- Float: Float rotation may be required to medical, surgical, or intermediate care units within service line.
- Additional Information: The role involves managing patients with acute stroke, cardiac emergencies, overdose, sepsis, shock, and multi-system organ failure. Candidates should be comfortable with special procedures such as central line placement, bronchoscopies, PEG tube management, CRRT, IABP, and post-arrest cooling protocols. The unit supports interdisciplinary collaboration to deliver specialized intensive care in a busy hospital setting.
