Job Summary:
The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) registered nurse position is located in Nampa, Idaho. This role involves providing specialized care for critically ill patients with conditions such as heart failure, respiratory failure, sepsis, and post-surgical complications. The nurse will be responsible for managing complex patient needs within a dynamic ICU environment, ensuring quality care and adherence to clinical protocols.
Job Details:
- Schedule: 12-hour shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, with shifts scheduled by the unit scheduler. Shifts may be block or grouped together. Weekend and holiday shifts are as needed, with efforts to schedule every other weekend.
- Required Qualifications: Valid ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification, valid BLS (Basic Life Support) certification, NIHSS (National Institute of Health Stroke Scale) certification, and a minimum of 1 year of ICU nursing experience are required. Candidates must be able to work well within a team and be comfortable with first-time travel assignments.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with titrating drips such as Propofol, Levophed, Dobutamine, Vasopressin, Fentanyl, Epinephrine, and Diltiazem.
- Float: Float rotation may be required; nurses may float to telemetry units and other ICU settings such as Meridian and Boise. Efforts are made to maintain a 1:3 nurse-to-patient ratio during float shifts.
- Additional Information: The ICU operates 24/7 with on-site hospitalist physicians and available intensivists via telehealth. Respiratory therapists are present around the clock, providing services with vents, high flow oxygen, and Bipap. The unit employs CNAs (Certified Nursing Assistants) and requires nurses to read EKG strips and monitor patient status. Orientation includes 1 to 2 shifts depending on experience. The facility enforces a radius rule of 50 miles for candidate eligibility, requiring submitted addresses to confirm compliance.
