Position Overview

The Registered Nurse will provide high-quality care in a fast-paced environment, primarily focusing on telemetry and general medical patients, including psychiatric cases and patients with tracheostomies. The role involves handling fluctuating bed counts and requires the ability to transition quickly between various patient care areas.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and interpret telemetry readings; no techs available on the unit.
  • Provide patient care in accordance with established protocols.
  • Participate in cohorting patients as needed.
  • Assist with the flow of patients in a high turnover environment.
  • Contribute to a collaborative team by working independently when required.

Patient Ratios

Registered Nurses typically handle a patient load of 1:5-6, depending on census and staff availability.

Floating Requirements

Travelers may be required to float to other medical-surgical telemetry units within the facility as needed.

Work Schedule

  • Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend
  • Holiday Requirements: May be included in holiday rotation

Orientation

New hires will undergo 3 days of classroom orientation followed by 1 day of unit orientation with a designated preceptor.

Additonal Notes

Candidates must be comfortable in an independent role, adapting quickly to changing circumstances within a fast-paced healthcare setting. Excessive call-ins may lead to serious consequences, including potential termination.
