OR RN - First Assist

We are looking for an experienced OR RN First Assist to work directly alongside surgeons during a variety of surgical procedures. The RNFA will provide intraoperative patient care, assist with surgical procedures, maintain a sterile field, and support the surgical team to ensure safe and effective patient outcomes.

Position Details:

• OR RN - First Assist
• Local travelers not accepted
• Day shift: 7:00 AM–3:30 PM
• Call required as needed
• Arrhythmia exam required
• ACLS and BLS required
• CRNFA preferred
• Ohio RN license required

First Assist Responsibilities:

• Work directly with the surgeon during operative procedures.
• Assist with retracting, suctioning, controlling bleeding, and other first-assist duties.
• Assist with suturing, cautery, and irrigation as directed by the surgeon.
• Maintain a sterile field and perform accurate sponge, sharps, and instrument counts.
• Prepare surgical equipment and supplies based on procedure and surgeon preference.
• Monitor the patient throughout surgery and assist with maintaining patient safety.
• Provide perioperative nursing care and collaborate with the surgical team.
• Follow all surgical, safety, and infection-control protocols.

• GYN
• ENT
• GI/Colorectal

Unit Specifics:
The OR performs a wide variety of procedures including ENT, vascular, thoracic, orthopedic, plastics, GYN, colorectal, podiatry, pain, pediatric dental, general surgery, bariatrics/robotics, neurosurgery, and some pulmonary procedures.

No eye or cardiac surgery.

Allen Facility:
The RNFA may need to float to the Allen facility as needed. Allen has 2 ORs performing orthopedic, pain, endoscopy, and podiatry procedures. No call is required at the Allen facility.
