  • Schedule Quality: Flexible 8-hour day/evening shifts. Facility is willing to work with candidates on flexing shift lengths and start times.
  • Multi-Campus Scope: Supports inpatient and outpatient GI procedures across both Arnot Health hospital campuses.
  • On-Call Requirement:Yes — Mandatory Endoscopy call rotation (typically 1 night per week and every 6th weekend, subject to coverage needs). Call swaps permitted with unit approval.

    Guaranteed Hours: 40 Hours Per Week

Absolute Minimum Qualifications & Departmental Hardstops:

  • Licensure Mandate: Active, unencumbered New York State (NYS) RN License held in hand at submission.
  • Experience Baseline: Minimum 1–2+ years of dedicated Endoscopy / GI Lab RN experience OR Operating Room (OR) RN experience with formal Endoscopy training/experience.
  • Core Certifications Required:
    • Active AHA BLS
    • Active AHA ACLS(CGRN certification preferred)
  • Procedural & Sedation Competency: Proven proficiency in moderate/conscious sedation administration, airway monitoring, pre-procedure assessment, and post-procedural PACU recovery.
  • On-Call Commitment: Candidates must commit to required weekday and weekend Endoscopy on-call coverage and multi-campus float expectations.

Job Summary & Clinical Scope

A facility in Elmira, NY is seeking an adaptable Endoscopy Registered Nurse (RN Endoscopy / GI) for a 13-week contract assignment within the ENDOSCOPY (6712) department. Operating across both system campuses for inpatient and outpatient populations, the nurse will manage procedural sedation, assist endoscopists during diagnostic and therapeutic GI interventions, and direct peri-procedural nursing care.

  • Pre-Procedure Assessment & Intra-Procedure Assistance: Perform focused physiological, psychological, and airway assessments; prepare endoscopes and accessories; assist physicians during EGDs, colonoscopies, ERCPs, and bronchoscopies.
  • Moderate Sedation & Airway Management: Administer and titrate conscious sedation agents per hospital protocols; continuously monitor cardiac telemetry, pulse oximetry, capnography, and vital signs during high-risk procedural phases.
  • Post-Anesthesia Care (PACU Recovery): Monitor patients recovering from sedation, assess for post-procedure complications (bleeding, perforation, vasovagal responses), and manage discharge planning and patient/family education.
  • Scope Reprocessing & Quality Standards: Adhere strictly to infection control guidelines and high-level disinfection (HLD) standards for endoscopic instrumentation.
