Shifts are from 7:15 AM to 3:45 PM, with one rotating day from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM or 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM. The unit has 7 rooms, including 4 for MAC and 3 for Conscious Sedation procedures, as well as holding and recovery rooms. The unit operates weekdays and offers on-call for evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. Skill sets required include GI Technician Endoscopy, Olympus scope set-up, and handling and reprocessing. The clinician-to-patient ratio is 1:1 in rooms and 1:2-3 in the PACU. The patient population is diverse. There are 18 PACU bays and 8 procedural rooms. The census ranges from 60-70 procedures daily. The EMR charting system used is EPIC. Floating is not required. Rotating shifts are required depending on hours; the department operates from 6:30 AM to 5:30 PM.
