Shift hours are from 7:15 AM to 3:45 PM with one rotating day of 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM or 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM. The unit consists of seven procedural rooms, four for monitored anesthesia care (MAC), and three for conscious sedation procedures, along with holding and recovery rooms. The department operates weekdays and has on-call requirements for evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. The patient population is diverse, with a clinician-to-patient ratio of 1:1 in the procedural rooms and 1:2-3 in the post-anesthesia care unit (PACU). An average of 60-70 procedures are performed each day. The electronic medical record charting system used is EPIC. Floating is not required, but rotating shifts are necessary based on department hours.
