The Registered Professional Nurse assesses patient needs, develops a plan of care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, provides direct care, evaluates patient progress, and coordinates care delivery throughout the patient's episode. The Endoscopy RN develops specialized skills in caring for patients admitted for medical conditions. He/She provides care to adult, adolescent, and geriatric populations with medical needs. The Endoscopy RN is accountable for patient and family education to assist in understanding self-care beyond hospitalization, including lifestyle changes to support health and healing. The Endoscopy Registered Nurse is expected to promote comfort and provide emotional support in a healing environment. The RN applies nursing knowledge and skill in the delivery of care. He/She assesses patient and family needs through active listening and analyzing information obtained through observation, technology, or health team communication. The RN creates a developmentally and culturally relevant, individualized plan of care to address the identified health problems. In collaboration with the patient, family, physician, and healthcare team, the RN sets goals and monitors the patient’s progress. The RN adjusts the plan based on patient response or changes in condition and prioritizes needs. The RN promotes, advocates for, and protects the health, safety, and rights of the patient. He/She encourages and builds mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members to achieve the best possible patient outcomes.
