Endoscopy Registered Nurse (RN)

Scheduling Details

The position requires a commitment of 40 hours per week with flexible shift options:

• 5 days per week, 8-hour shifts (7:00 AM - 3:00 PM)
• 4 days per week, 10-hour shifts (7:00 AM - 5:00 PM)

Weekend and on-call requirements apply, including a call rotation with staff.

Charting Requirements

• Experience with EPIC charting is required.

Holiday Requirements

Candidates must work one holiday or take call during the 13-week contract period.

Licensure and Certifications

• Current ACLS and BLS certifications are mandatory.
• Pending licenses are accepted for candidates holding a single-state license from a non-compact state. An active Virginia State or Compact RN/LPN license is required for all others.

Clinical Skills Required

• Respiratory care including airway management.
• Experience in recovering patients from conscious sedation and monitored anesthesia care sedation.
• Familiarity with various surgical instruments and equipment, such as balloon dilators, electrosurgical units, and polyp snares.
• Proficiency in performing procedures such as colonoscopy, EGD, ERCP, and esophageal varices banding.
• Experience in both inpatient and outpatient endoscopy settings.
• Ability to monitor and assess lab values, managing conditions such as malignant hyperthermia and pain evaluations.
• Skills in managing dysrhythmias and conducting ECGs.
• Starting and maintaining IVs is essential.

Patient Population

The Endoscopy unit serves a diverse patient population, including adolescents, infants, adults, and geriatrics.

Work Environment

The position involves working in various settings such as inpatient facilities, outpatient endoscopy centers, and portable/bedside travel cases.
