Job Title: Endoscopy RN Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Endoscopy Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 8 hours (06:00 - 14:30) Experience: 2 years of Endoscopy experience required License: SC license or Compact license must be in hand prior to start Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: - Two years of Endoscopy experience - SC license or Compact license - Current BLS and ACLS certifications Description: Traveler needs to stay within 30 minutes of the facility to be able to respond to call as expected. Position/Specialty: Endoscopy RN. Shift: 5x8s from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Ratios: 1:1. Weekend requirement: Every third weekend. On-call requirement: Yes, approximately every third weekend from 3 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Monday morning. There are two other Endoscopy nurses that take call. There will also be some on-call required during the week after 3 p.m. This will all be split up among the traveler and the two full-time RNs. The traveler will need to stay within 30 minutes of the facility or can stay on-site during call hours if needed. The traveler is not required to float between units. Additional duties include administering conscious sedation, monitoring patients, and performing various endoscopy procedures. Daily census varies, typically around 14 patients. Interdisciplinary support includes respiratory services, interpretation services, rapid response teams, and transportation. Patients are typically adults and geriatrics, undergoing gastrointestinal procedures. Special procedures include bronchoscopies, ERCPs, tracheostomies, and PEG tube placements. Travelers should be aware that during hurricane season, all employees and contractors may be assigned to emergency response teams. Hurricane season runs from June through November, with peak activity in August and September.
