The successful candidate will be instrumental in developing, implementing, and evaluating comprehensive risk management and patient safety programs. This involves ensuring strict compliance with state and federal regulations, leading initiatives to reduce medical errors, and fostering a culture of safety across the organization. You will guide process improvements, conduct safety assessments, and provide essential education to staff and physicians.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive risk management program in alignment with Alaska Statutes and federal regulations.
- Provide primary oversight and strategic direction for the organization-wide patient safety program.
- Collaborate with leadership on critical patient safety and risk management decisions.
- Investigate, evaluate, and report adverse incidents in accordance with all regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate and facilitate the disclosure of adverse incidents, ensuring appropriate follow-up with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
- Analyze patient grievances in compliance with Alaska Statutes.
- Facilitate Patient Safety Rounds and lead safety assessments, including Root Cause Analyses (RCA) and Failure Mode Effects Analyses (FMEA).
- Provide comprehensive risk management and patient safety education to various departments and staff levels.
- Stay current with industry/clinical risk trends and advancements in technologies to ensure organizational adaptation and compliance.
- Work collaboratively with Medical Directors, CMO, and Corporate Counsel on quality of care and peer review issues.
- Maintain expert knowledge of regulatory standards from bodies such as DNV, TJC, CMS, and CARF.
- Assist with accreditation and quality support activities, including chart audits, clinical reviews, and data support.
- Communicate professionally and effectively across all organizational levels, serving as a resource, mentor, and role model.
Required Qualifications
- Current full, unrestricted, active Registered Nursing (RN) license in Alaska.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience monitoring risk management, patient safety, quality, and regulatory requirements, including planning and coordinating process changes.
- Demonstrated leadership experience in facilitating and leading cross-functional teams and working collaboratively with diverse groups.

- Knowledge Of: Accreditation requirements for healthcare systems (acute care, ambulatory, behavioral health), patient care principles and practices, quality improvement concepts, medical peer review principles, medical practice and standards of care, risk management principles, organizational functions and operations, group processes.
- Skills In: Data analytics (collection, analysis, and presentation), excellent verbal and written communication, medical chart reviews and data extraction.
- Ability To: Focus and prioritize to attain goals, effectively solicit ideas and information from individuals and groups, define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Computer Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Products, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
