Key Responsibilities
- Work alongside a second RN to care for med/surg, outpatient, and emergency department patients in a critical access hospital setting
- Perform standard RN procedures including IV starts, Foley catheter insertion, and other typical bedside interventions
- Float daily between med/surg, outpatient, and the emergency department as part of a small two-RN staffing model
- Utilize equipment including EPIC, Philips central monitor/telemetry, and Lifepak 15
- Maintain a nurse-to-patient ratio that averages 1:2 or 1:3, with a maximum of 1:6 depending on census
- Ability to function in the ER is expected of all nurses on staff; charge nurse coverage in the ER is preferred
Required Qualifications
- Active Compact RN license or active South Dakota state RN license
- Minimum 2 years of emergency room (ER) experience
- Minimum 2 years of med/surg experience
- BLS certification required
- ACLS certification required
- PALS certification required
- TNCC certification required
- Must live within 80 miles of the facility to be considered a local placement
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Critical access hospital experience strongly preferred
- Experience with EPIC electronic health records
- Ability to serve as charge nurse in the emergency department
