Registered Nurse – Emergency Room (12-Hour Mids)

Schedule / Job Type
Contract | 12-Hour Mid/Evening Shifts | Possible start times: 11:00, 13:00, or 15:00 | Every-other-weekend rotation | Every-other or 50% holiday coverage expected | 6-week scheduling cycles
Key Responsibilities
- Provide emergency nursing care across a broad patient population ranging from neonates to geriatrics, including approximately 25% pediatric patients, walk-in traumas, and cases involving cardiac, neuro, GI, respiratory, and psychiatric presentations
- Manage ventilators and BiPAP independently, as no respiratory therapists are onsite; ventilator/BiPAP training will be provided during onboarding
- Mix and prepare medications independently under remote pharmacy supervision via video conference
- Perform and assist with procedures including chest tube management, central line care, and IV placement; majority of blood draws are RN-performed
- Document accurately using the EPIC electronic health record system; operate Alaris and Pyxis equipment
- May be asked to serve in a charge nurse capacity; facility will provide training if needed
Required Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Minimum 2 full years of Emergency Room experience (any trauma level)
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, Advanced NRP, NIHSS, and TNCC
- Traveler Telemetry Competency must be completed and passed prior to start date
- Strong IV skills and experience with medication administration, chest tubes, and central lines
- Strong customer service and communication skills
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Prior experience in a small or community-based acute care emergency setting
- Familiarity with EPIC, Alaris, and Pyxis systems
- Experience managing ventilated patients independently
