Description: The Registered Nurse I assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care. This is done utilizing the nursing process in accordance with hospital standards and unit policies and procedures. The purpose is to monitor and evaluate patient functional status. Responsible for assessing, organizing, and completing patient care. This is done with consideration for patient age, cultural, and psychosocial factors. Documents steps of the nursing process accurately and utilizes proper medical terminology. Addresses problems and tracks progress toward goals. Facilitates patient discharge through timely and appropriate referrals. Utilizes patient education resources suitable for patient age and cultural/psychosocial factors. Collaborates with other disciplines as appropriate. Supports unit and hospital goals through performance improvement and educational activities. Attends in-services, meets unit education standards, and completes variance reports. Works independently in planning and making minor decisions in a complex technical or professional field. Engages directly with patients and/or customers. Interacts with internal customers via telephone or face-to-face. Works collaboratively with other healthcare professionals and staff.
