Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care within a 65-bed, pod-based Emergency Department serving all patient populations, including a dedicated pediatric pod and an Acute Mental Health area
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments, accurate documentation, and ongoing monitoring including cardiac monitoring and EKG interpretation
- Perform IV insertion, phlebotomy, point-of-care testing, and splinting as required
- Deliver patient and family education and apply critical thinking skills in a high-volume environment averaging approximately 230 visits per day
- Chart accurately using EPIC – ASAP electronic medical records system
- Float to other areas within the department as needed and rotate shifts when requested
Required Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Massachusetts or compact eligibility
- Minimum of 2 years of Emergency Department nursing experience
- AHA-certified Basic Life Support (BLS)
- AHA-certified Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- AHA-certified Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- Proficiency in general ED nursing skills including assessment, IV, phlebotomy, EKG, cardiac monitoring, point-of-care testing, splinting, and patient education
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification
- Experience with EPIC – ASAP electronic medical records system
