Contract | Days | Onsite | Shifts available: 7a–7p, 11a–11p, 3p–3a, 7p–7a | Every other weekend required
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in an 18-bed Emergency Department serving all age groups across a wide range of acuity levels, including chest pain, sepsis, stroke, behavioral health, orthopedic injuries, and ENT emergencies
- Manage common drips including antibiotics, narcotics, anti-emetics, vaccines, and emergency medications using Alaris IV pumps
- Document and coordinate care using the EPIC EMR system
- Participate in purposeful rounding and support TeleHealth initiatives within the department
- Maintain nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4–5 based on acuity, working collaboratively with a charge nurse present on each shift
- Complete a department-specific orientation consisting of 2 shifts, including a required open-book skills assessment with a minimum passing score of 90%
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license in good standing
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department experience required
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC, and HSS Team (workplace violence training)
- Must comply with facility fingernail policy — artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas
- Valid driver's license required at time of submittal
- Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
- Candidates currently working full-time, part-time, or PRN at any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility (including CHI and/or Dignity) are not eligible
- All requested time off (up to 7 days per 13-week contract) must be submitted upfront; additional time off requests will not be approved
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience working in a certified stroke center or high-acuity emergency environment
- Familiarity with TeleHealth platforms in an emergency care setting
- Self-motivated, team-oriented professional with a passion for emergency medicine and a compassionate patient-care approach
