Schedule / Job Type
Contract | Onsite | Mid Shifts (self-scheduling available across day, night, and mid-shift windows including 9–9, 11–11, 1–1, and 3–3) | Every other weekend and every other holiday required
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in a 24-bed emergency department with 3 trauma bays, managing a patient load of approximately 80–90 patients per day at a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio
- Participate in triage on an occasional basis within a dedicated triage area
- Manage ER holds intermixed within the department, providing continuous care for held patients
- Independently interpret ECG rhythms; no monitor technicians are on unit
- Collaborate with ED physicians, mid-level providers, charge nurses, house supervisors, nurse aides, paramedics, and patient sitters as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Document patient care using the Paragon EMR system
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license valid for practice in Texas
- Minimum 2 years of experience in an emergency department setting
- Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, and TNCC; PALS or ENPC also required
- Proficiency in ECG rhythm interpretation
- Candidates must not have been employed full-time, part-time, or PRN at any facility associated with CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity Health within the past year
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience caring for high-acuity diagnoses including trauma, stroke, sepsis, CHF, and cardiac conditions
- Familiarity with Paragon EMR
- Experience working in a fast track or high-volume emergency department environment
