Schedule / Job Type
Contract | Rotating Shifts (Days 7a–7p, Mids 11–11 & 12–12, Nights 7p–7a) | Onsite | Every 3rd weekend required | 2 holidays per year (1 winter, 1 summer)
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in a Level I/Trauma-capable Emergency Department managing adult and pediatric populations across 33 beds and 2 trauma bays
- Manage a patient assignment of up to 4 patients, including ER holds for admission intermixed within the department
- Perform nurse draws for approximately 95% of lab orders and complete EKGs alongside ED Techs
- Monitor cardiac telemetry for assigned patients via nurses' station monitors; all rooms are capable of cardiac monitoring
- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team including ED physicians, mid-level providers, respiratory therapy, and in-house security
- Float only within the pediatric ED as needed; no floating to inpatient units
Required Qualifications
- Active RN licensure
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, TNCC, NIHSS, and PALS
- Minimum prior Emergency Department experience required
- Proficiency or ability to quickly adapt to Epic EMR
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
- Candidates may not currently hold full-time, part-time, or PRN employment with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity Health
- A valid driver's license is required at time of submittal and will be used to verify the 50-mile radius requirement
- Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas; compliance with this policy is required for contract continuation
- Candidates must successfully pass an open-book skills exam during orientation with a minimum score of 90%
Preferred Experience / Skills
- ENPC (Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course) certification
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
- Experience caring for trauma, sepsis, CVA, and pediatric emergency patients
- Familiarity with ventilator, CPAP, BiPAP, and heated high-flow oxygen equipment in an ED setting
