Key Responsibilities
Provide direct patient care in a high-volume emergency department serving all age ranges, including neonatal through adult populations
Manage and assess patients presenting with diagnoses including chest pain, stroke, sepsis, cardiac arrest, trauma, respiratory illness, and respiratory arrest
Operate specialized equipment including Belmont rapid infuser in trauma, Giraffe warmer for neonates, Lucas device for cardiac arrests, and rapid infuser
Maintain a patient ratio of 1:4, up to 1:5 with lower-acuity patient groups, within a 46-bed department averaging a daily census of 140
Document accurately using EPIC electronic charting system
Float within the emergency specialty as needed; holidays required as scheduled
Required Qualifications
Active Maryland RN license or Compact License at time of submission
BLS – American Heart Association only
ACLS – American Heart Association only
PALS – American Heart Association only
TNCC, NIH Stroke Scale certification, and CPI certification required (CPI: Calm Every Storm online version is the only acceptable online vendor)
Minimum 3 years of emergency room experience required; travel experience preferred, though first-time travelers with 5+ years of ER experience will be considered
EPIC charting system experience required
Must maintain a permanent address 50 or more miles from the facility to be eligible
Preferred Experience / Skills
Prior travel nursing experience in an emergency department setting
Experience with trauma, cardiac arrest protocols, and high-acuity emergency presentations
Comfort with floating within scope and adapting to varying patient acuity levels
