Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct emergency nursing care to a diverse patient population including behavioral health, pediatric, and adult patients
- Manage and monitor drips including sedation and vasoactive medications
- Read, measure, and interpret telemetry strips accurately
- Maintain a patient ratio of 4:1 within an 18-bed emergency department
- Float across multiple campuses as needed
- Participate in required winter holiday shifts unless the unit is closed
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 36 months of current Emergency Department/Emergency Room experience
- Experience caring for both pediatric and adult patients
- Experience with drips including sedation and vasoactive agents
- Experience reading, measuring, and interpreting telemetry strips
- Active Iowa RN license or Compact/Multistate license at time of submission
- Active TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) – required and must be documented
- BLS – Basic Life Support (AHA or ARC) – required
- ACLS – Advanced Cardiac Life Support (AHA or ARC) – required
- PALS – Pediatric Advanced Life Support (AHA) – required
- ED/ER-specific skills checklist required at time of submission
- Valid Driver's License required and must be documented
- Must live more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible (based on Driver's License)
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience with behavioral health patients highly preferred
- EPIC EMR experience highly preferred
- Level I trauma center experience preferred
- Level II trauma center experience preferred
- Professional reference from a charge nurse, supervisor, nurse manager, director, CNO, or COO within the past 24 months preferred
