    Registered Nurse – Emergency Room

    Location

    Canton, SD | Critical Access Hospital

    Schedule / Job Type

    Contract | Rotating Shifts (Days/Nights, Every Other Weekend) | Onsite | Day shift: 0630–1900; Night shift: 1830–0700. Straight nights or straight weekend scheduling may be considered. On-call obligation of 5 shifts per 6-week schedule, in addition to regularly scheduled hours. Clinician must be able to respond to the facility within 40 minutes of being called.

    Key Responsibilities
    • Provide nursing care across Med-Surg and Emergency Department settings simultaneously in a Critical Access Hospital environment
    • Participate in ED response rotation shared equally among all staff to maintain competence and comfort in the emergency setting
    • Respond to on-call shifts as needed for increased patient load or acuity, emergency or trauma situations, patient transfer needs, or staffing coverage
    • Badge in and out at the facility for all shifts; adhere to facility dress code (Navy Blue Scrubs required)
    • Complete site-specific orientation during the first week of assignment, including computerized EPIC charting training
    Required Qualifications
    • Active South Dakota RN license or Compact RN license (willingness to obtain SD license accepted)
    • BLS certification required
    • ACLS certification required
    • TNCC certification required
    • Minimum 2 years of experience in Med-Surg and Emergency Room or Critical Access Hospital setting
    • Must live within 80 miles of the facility to be eligible for this position
    Preferred Experience / Skills
    • Experience working in a Critical Access Hospital (CAH) or small hospital float role
    • Familiarity with EPIC electronic health records system
    • Comfort managing variable patient ratios, typically 1 nurse to 3–5 patients
