    Schedule / Job Type

    Contract | Rotating Days/Nights with every other weekend; straight nights or straight weekend schedule may be considered. Day shifts: 0630–1900; Night shifts: 1830–0700. On-call obligation of 5 shifts per 6-week schedule in addition to regularly scheduled hours.

    Key Responsibilities
    • Provide nursing care across Med-Surg and Emergency Department settings simultaneously within a Critical Access Hospital environment.
    • Participate in shared ED response rotation among all staff to maintain competence and comfort in emergency care.
    • Respond to on-call assignments within 40 minutes of notification; on-call coverage spans Sunday–Saturday for both day and night windows.
    • Manage a patient ratio that typically ranges from 1:3 to 1:5 depending on census and acuity.
    • Complete site-specific orientation during the first week of assignment, including computerized EPIC charting training.
    • Adhere to facility dress code (Navy Blue Scrubs) and badge in/out at the facility for all shifts.
    Required Qualifications
    • Active South Dakota RN license or valid Compact RN license (willingness to obtain SD licensure accepted).
    • BLS, ACLS, and TNCC certifications required.
    • Minimum 2 years of nursing experience in Med-Surg and Emergency Room, or Critical Access Hospital (CAH) setting.
    • Ability to respond to the facility within 40 minutes when on call.
    • Must live within 80 miles of the facility to be eligible for this local placement.
    Preferred Experience / Skills
    • Experience in a Critical Access Hospital or small hospital float role.
    • Familiarity with EPIC electronic health records system.
    • Comfort working in a dual-role capacity covering both ED and Med-Surg simultaneously.
