Registered Nurse - Neonatal, Pediatric, and Obstetric Services Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our Family Care Unit in Laramie, Wyoming. This role provides comprehensive patient care across multiple specialties, including Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), Special Care Nursery, Pediatrics, and Labor & Delivery.

The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care for neonates, infants, children, and mothers, with a primary focus on achieving wellness and recovery. This dynamic position requires adaptability and expertise in caring for diverse patient populations within a hospital setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments, develop individualized care plans, and implement evidence-based nursing interventions.
  • Provide patient and family education tailored to their specific needs and understanding.
  • Accurately transcribe, utilize, and implement physician orders and established protocols.
  • Coordinate care with the interdisciplinary healthcare team and appropriately delegate tasks to ancillary personnel.
  • Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for all patients.
  • Document all aspects of patient care accurately and in a timely manner.
Required Qualifications
  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a Special Care Nursery (SCN) or Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) setting.
  • Experience caring for pediatric patients.
  • Experience in Labor and Delivery.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience in a hospital setting.
  • Completion of Intermediate Electronic Fetal Monitoring class (required within the first year of orientation for Labor & Delivery nurses).
  • Completion of Advanced Electronic Fetal Monitoring class (required within three years of labor orientation for Labor & Delivery nurses).
Skills & Competencies
  • Exceptional clinical assessment and critical thinking skills in neonatal, pediatric, and obstetric care.
  • Proficiency in patient education and family support.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities, with a proven capacity to prioritize effectively.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and ability to work autonomously.
  • Proficiency in learning and utilizing new computer software programs.
  • Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and upholding ethical and legal accountability.
