Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) procedures for a 13-week contract assignment in Carbondale, Illinois. This role offers an opportunity to provide expert nursing care to patients undergoing complex cardiovascular surgeries within a dynamic acute care hospital environment.
The CVOR RN will be an integral part of the surgical team, ensuring optimal patient outcomes through comprehensive pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative care. This position requires adaptability and the ability to float to other clinically appropriate units as needed, ensuring continuity of high-quality patient care across the facility.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide specialized nursing care to patients undergoing cardiovascular surgical procedures.
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized patient care plans.
- Prepare the operating room, ensuring all necessary instruments, equipment, and supplies are sterile and readily available.
- Assist the surgical team during procedures, including scrubbing and circulating duties, maintaining a sterile field, and anticipating surgeon's needs.
- Monitor patient's physiological status, vital signs, and response to anesthesia and surgical interventions throughout the procedure.
- Administer medications, blood products, and other treatments as prescribed by the physician.
- Ensure patient safety, advocate for patient needs, and maintain accurate and thorough documentation of all aspects of patient care.
- Float to other clinically appropriate units as needed, within the clinician’s scope of practice, licensure, and demonstrated competencies.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of one year of recent experience as a Registered Nurse in a Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) setting.
- Demonstrated ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, high-acuity surgical environment.
- Capability to float to other units as required by hospital needs.
