Job Title: Registered Nurse - Emergency Room Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Emergency Room Duration: 26 weeks Shift: 12-Hour Evenings Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Active state nursing license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC Must-Have: - Required certifications - General nursing skills - Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience - At least 1 prior travel assignment Description: The Emergency Room provides care for a wide variety of patients, including both critically ill and non-critical patients. The department has a total of 65 private beds, including 2 trauma bays. Nurse-to-patient ratios vary from 1:3 to 1:5, depending on patient acuity and departmental needs. Candidates must be comfortable administering and titrating a variety of drips, including vasopressors and cardiac medications. Experience in a teaching hospital and trauma care is preferred. The department is staffed with a minimum of 3 attending physicians at all times. Charge nurses and a house supervisor are present to support staff needs. Emergency department technicians assist with patient care, with a typical ratio of 1:9. Nurses in the department are expected to interpret rhythms and act on them as necessary. There is no requirement for on-call shifts for traveling nurses. Float duties are infrequent, primarily helping in other areas when necessary. Shift scheduling is managed by a scheduling manager and may include time off requests. Weekend and holiday shifts are required on a regular rotation, based on department needs. Travelers will not self-schedule and will be accommodated as much as possible. Scrub colors should be tasteful, with solid-colored shirts underneath.
