Description:
This position is for a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department.
The department is a Level 1 Trauma center with 65 private beds and 2 trauma bays.
Nurse to patient ratios are typically 1:3-5, based on acuity.
Nurses in this unit work with a wide variety of patients, from newborns to the elderly.
They will encounter critically ill patients, cardiac arrests, strokes, and heart attacks regularly.
Teamwork is essential, with a specialized team of nurses for trauma patients.
Experience with titrating various drips is necessary, including vasopressor and cardiac drips.
Nurses will need to interpret and act on patient rhythms, as ACLS certification is required.
Staff includes a minimum of 3 attending physicians during all shifts.
The charge nurses do not routinely take patient assignments but support critical care needs.
The department is supported by ED techs and respiratory therapists.
Nurses are responsible for drawing labs alongside technicians.
Shifts are scheduled in 12-hour blocks with rotations including weekends and holidays.
Flexibility in scheduling is available to accommodate time-off requests.
No on-call duties are required for this position.
Nurses may be floated to assist in other units but will not take primary assignments outside the ED.
Scrubs may be of any tasteful color without specific requirements.
