Join the dedicated Family Birth Place Team at Valley View Hospital in Glenwood Springs, Colorado, as an experienced Travel Registered Nurse specializing in Labor & Delivery and Postpartum care. This role offers the opportunity to provide compassionate, patient-centered, and evidence-based care within a facility recognized with Pathway to Excellence Designation.
The Family Birth Place is a high-volume unit, currently averaging 60 deliveries per month and anticipating an increase to 80+ deliveries monthly. As a vital member of the team, you will deliver comprehensive care to laboring mothers, newborns (32 weeks gestation and up), and postpartum patients, including couplet care, within a supportive and collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert nursing care to patients throughout the labor and delivery process, including surgical support in the OR and post-anesthesia care in the PACU.
- Deliver comprehensive postpartum and couplet care, ensuring the well-being of both mother and infant (32 weeks gestation and up).
- Function as a Charge Nurse, demonstrating leadership and clinical expertise in managing unit operations and patient flow.
- Implement and adhere to evidence-based practices to ensure optimal patient outcomes and experiences.
- Collaborate effectively with an interdisciplinary healthcare team to provide holistic patient care.
- Maintain a compassionate and patient-centered approach in all aspects of care delivery.
Required Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Demonstrated experience in Labor & Delivery, Postpartum, and Couplet Care.
- Prior experience functioning as a Charge Nurse in a Labor & Delivery setting.
- Ability to care for infants 32 weeks gestation and up.
- Proof of Flu Vaccine or agreement to obtain by October 31, 2025.

- Previous travel nursing experience.

Skills & Competencies
- Advanced clinical skills in Labor & Delivery, including fetal monitoring, medication administration, and emergency interventions.
- Proficiency in Postpartum and Couplet Care, including newborn assessment and breastfeeding support.
- Experience with OR and PACU procedures related to obstetrics.
- Strong leadership and critical thinking skills for charge nurse responsibilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to provide compassionate, patient-centered care.
- Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
Shift Details
- Shift Type: Night Shift (NOC)
- Shift Duration: 12 hours
- Days per Week: 3
- Weekend Rotation: Required, rotating schedule.
- Call Requirements: Typically one 12-hour call shift every 6 weeks; subject to change based on unit needs.
- Contract Length: 13 weeks

Licensing Requirements
- Current Colorado Registered Nurse (RN) license or a compact state RN license recognized in Colorado.
- AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
- STABLE certification.
