Job Summary
Join the dedicated team at Mammoth Hospital in Mammoth Lakes, California, as an Operating Room Registered Nurse. This role involves providing comprehensive nursing care to surgical patients within a single Operating Room unit, ensuring a safe and high-quality environment throughout the perioperative phase.
The successful candidate will initiate, implement, and evaluate patient care plans based on medical, surgical, and nursing diagnoses, aligning with established standards of care. This position requires active collaboration with various departments and ancillary personnel to maintain patient safety, manage supplies and equipment, and uphold strict aseptic techniques.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough patient assessments and continuous monitoring of physical status.
- Collect and record essential patient data through interviews, observation, record review, diagnostic results, physician documentation, and interdisciplinary consultation.
- Utilize collected data to effectively plan and deliver individualized patient care.
- Actively listen to patients, provide empathetic responses, and ascertain their perception of needs and care pertinent to surgical procedures.
- Identify and implement necessary interventions to achieve expected patient outcomes based on specific surgical procedures, illnesses, injuries, diseases, and behavioral factors, adhering to OR standards of care.
- Anticipate potential complications and adapt care plans during surgical procedures, prioritizing interventions in emergencies, changes in patient status, or unusual occurrences.
- Demonstrate proficiency in establishing and maintaining a sterile field.
- Proactively anticipate and prepare required equipment and supplies before the commencement of surgical cases.
- Possess comprehensive knowledge of expected surgical outcomes and the effects of anesthesia medications.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of nursing interventions against established expected outcomes.
- Reassess patient status, identify unresolved problems, and communicate revised plans of care to the healthcare team.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of two (2) years of recent experience as an Operating Room Registered Nurse.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Cerner Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
- Certified Perioperative Nurse (CNOR) certification.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong clinical proficiency in Orthopedic (e.g., Arthrex, Depuy, Synthes), General, and ENT surgical cases.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.

- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Shift Details
- Shift Type: AM, 12-hour varied shifts (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM).
- Days per Week: 3 days per week.
- Weekend Rotations: Required, as part of varied shifts.
- Call Requirements: One (1) call shift per week (7:30 PM - 7:00 AM), scheduled immediately following a regular shift.
- Contract Length: 13 weeks.
- Start Date: October 5, 2026.
Licensing Requirements
- Active and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of California.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
- Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
