Description

Job Title: Emergency Room Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Emergency Room Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day 4x12-Hour Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience required. License: Must have a valid nursing license in hand. Certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS; preferred NIH, TNCC. Must-Have: - Level 2 trauma experience. - Previous charge experience. - Experience with patient ratios of 3-4. - Ability to float within the hospital or to nearby facilities as needed. Description: This position involves working in a trauma center with 48 beds that can flex up to 62 beds using hall beds. Staffing will never exceed a 1:4 ratio for regular emergency department patients. Hold assignments may include a ratio of 4:1 for progressive holds and 5:1 for medical holds. The emergency department averages 6.6 behavioral health patients per day. Candidates will be expected to work in various areas within the hospital and potentially at affiliate hospitals as needed. All travelers will be required to float as part of their responsibilities. Key skills include management of dysrhythmias, starting IVs, administering continuous IV sedation, and care of ventilated patients. Knowledge of isolation precautions and usage of CPAP/BiPAP is essential. A proficient understanding of emergency procedures for pediatric and adult patients is required. Candidates must have experience with acute psychosis, gunshot wounds, and other high-acuity emergencies. This role includes the interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, phlebotomy, and procedural sedation administration.
