Job Summary
We are seeking a highly adaptable and skilled Float Registered Nurse to join a Critical Access Hospital in Kapaau, Hawaii. This role requires a dynamic professional capable of providing comprehensive nursing care across both the Medical-Surgical and Emergency Department units.
The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care for a diverse population, demonstrating flexibility and proficiency in various clinical scenarios. This position is vital for maintaining high standards of patient care in a critical access setting, responding to fluctuating patient needs and unit demands.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care to individuals across the lifespan in both Medical-Surgical and Emergency Department settings.
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, develop individualized care plans, and implement appropriate nursing interventions.
- Administer medications and treatments accurately and safely, monitoring for efficacy and adverse reactions.
- Monitor and interpret patient vital signs, cardiac rhythms, and other diagnostic data, escalating concerns as needed.
- Respond effectively to medical emergencies, initiating life-saving measures and collaborating with the healthcare team.
- Maintain meticulous and timely documentation of all patient care activities in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
- Collaborate effectively with physicians, advanced practice providers, other nurses, and interdisciplinary team members to ensure coordinated care.
- Educate patients and their families on health conditions, treatment plans, and discharge instructions.
- Ensure a safe, therapeutic, and clean environment for all patients and staff.
Required Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of recent experience in both Medical-Surgical and Emergency Department settings.
- Demonstrated strong proficiency with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems, specifically EPIC.
- Ability to float between units based on hospital needs and patient census.
