Job Summary
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Emergency Department Registered Nurse at Tsehootsooi Medical Center in Fort Defiance, Arizona. The Emergency Department is a dynamic environment comprising an 11-bed Main ED, a 6-bed Fast Track, and a 7-bed Observation Unit.
The successful candidate will be an integral part of a team dedicated to providing comprehensive emergency care to a diverse patient population. Nurses are expected to demonstrate flexibility and adaptability, rotating through various areas of the ED and potentially assisting with community health initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care across the Main Emergency Department, ED Fast Track, and ED Observation Unit.
- Rotate through specialized assignments including Triage, Quick Registration, Covid Tent, and Entry Screening.
- Adapt to daily and intra-shift reassignments based on patient volume and unit needs.
- Assist with Covid testing and/or immunization clinics as required.
- Float to other departments as qualified, providing patient care or task-oriented support (e.g., answering call lights, phones).
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of two (2) years of recent Registered Nurse experience in an Emergency Department specialty.

Shift Details
- Shift Type: Day Shift, 12-hour shifts (7:00 AM - 7:00 PM).
- Schedule: Typically a 7 days on, 7 days off rotation, resulting in 36 hours one week and 48 hours the next.
- Flexibility: Shifts may be subject to change during the contract, including potential for mid-shifts or other day shifts, to accommodate facility staffing requirements.
- Contract Length: 16 weeks.
- Start Date: October 11, 2026.
- Call Requirements: Not specified.
- Weekend Rotations: Included in the typical 7 on, 7 off schedule.
- Time Off: A maximum of one (1) week of Requested Time Off (RTO) may be approved.
- Floating: Travelers are occasionally expected to float to other departments for which they are qualified.
Licensing Requirements
- Active Arizona Registered Nurse (RN) license or Compact State License.
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- American Heart Association Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC) certification.
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification.
- Conscious Sedation certification (can be obtained through the facility after confirmation).
